The Burberry fashion label wa s established by Thomas Burberry who opene d his own outdo o r clothing store in the UK  in 1859. The brand quickly becam e known for its waterproof, breathable gabardine fabric, which Thomas himself patented. The now icon ic Burberry check was c reated in 1924 when iwas used as a lining in the brand's tr ench coats. It was instituted acr oss the entire brand in1960 whe n it was trademarked.  I n 2000 Burberry launched its first fragrance, Burberry Tou ch. Today, Burberry's fragrance portfolio includes Brit, London, The Beat among others.
